Forrest Griffin to Fight Thiago Silva

By Garrett Bailey

Former UFC light heavy weight champion Forrest Griffin has verbally agreed to fight Thiago Silva for UFC 101. MMAjunkie is also reporting that the event will take place August 8 in Portland, Oregon.

Thiago Silva was knocked out by Lyoto Machida at UFC 94 a second before the first round ended. Prior to that loss he was undefeated in 13 fights.

Forrest Griffin is looking to rebound after losing his belt to Rashad Evans back at UFC 92 in December.

UFC 101 also has Randy Couture vs. Antonio Minotauro Nogueira scheduled on the card.

(Just so everyone knows, this fight is not happening, Forrest is now fighting Anderson Silva at UFC 101 in Philadelphia and Randy Couture will face Big Nog at UFC 102 in Portland)

yeah…i was thinking about this earlier….both of them just lost to the 2 guys in a title fight….machida and rashad…so if rashad beats machida, and it doesn’t matter if rashad or rampage win, forrest would have a rematch…
