Strikeforce: Quick Predictions
By Garrett Bailey
Besides the weird photo shoot pictures and Frank Shamrock saying he is going to knock Nick Diaz out, there has not been much excitement for this card. All these fights look decent enough to watch on Showtime for free, and everyone likes free nowadays. This card is more than decent, it’s pretty good. And I’m pretty good at predicting fights, with an amazing 100-0 record. Maybe not but whatever. These are my quick predictions for Strikefoce: Shamrock vs. Diaz:
Brett “The Grim” Rogers wants to fight Kimbo Slice and it should happen because I need to laugh. Instead of Slice, Rogers gets Ron “Abongo” Humphrey, who will be losing his first fight by the judges scorecards.
Two dangerous fighters making another appearance on Showtime are Scott Smith and Benji Radach. Before Radach’s crazy knockout, I had no clue who he was. I’m looking forward to this fight, as it can turn into an all out war. With Fight of the night potential written all over it, I’m going with Radach by TKO mostly because Scott Smith will be too eager to bang and forget to protect himself.
The only women on the card are Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos and Hitomi “Girlfight Monster” Akano. Cyborg could be looking passed Akano to a possible fight with American Gladiator Gina Carano. Anyone with the nickname Girlfight Monster gets a thumbs up from me, but I’ll stick to the very exciting Santos by unanimous decision.
Gilbert Melendez will be murdering super late replacement Rodrigo Damm. Melendez is one of the young rising stars in the sport of MMA and will make a rare appearance to the American MMA fans. This fight will be stopped in the first round with Melendez locking in a submission.
Frank Shamrock and Nick Diaz are two fighters who like to hype their fights, and Shamrock has said plenty leading up to April 11. Diaz may be the underdog, and for probably good reason, but I’ll be picking him to win this fight. I know, I’m crazy but I don’t care. Shamrock may easily take this fight, but I don’t see it that way at all. The judges scorecards will determine this close back and forth battle between the Weed Expert and the Old Man. The undercard fights should get some airtime if we’re lucky. Fighters getting wins will be Yohan Banks, Luke Rockhold, Eric Lawson, Raul Castillo (because he’s fighting some dude with an 0-2 record. It’s a fight of someone getting their first win or first loss) James Terry, and Shingo Kohara.
